Who We Are

Empowering Youth Through Environmental Action

Ecowise is a youth-led community initiative based in Matibi, Zimbabwe. We use sports as a tool to bring young people together, but our real goal is to nurture a generation that actively participates in caring for the environment. Through hands-on learning and eco-social innovation, we help youth turn challenges like drought, waste, and unemployment into sustainable opportunities.

Founded out of the need to restore hope and purpose in rural communities, Ecowise blends learning, play, and entrepreneurship. Our approach transforms sports fields into classrooms and local challenges into lessons. Youth learn permaculture, recycling, and business skills, applying them directly to community projects. Many have gone on to start gardens, recycling ventures, and eco-products — showing that change begins when we act.

How We Work

Turning Local Challenges Into Sustainable Solutions

Learning by Doing

Youth participate in the Ecowise League, where every goal scored on the pitch is matched by an environmental action: planting trees, recycling plastic, or restoring water systems. In the Ecowise Hub, they gain practical skills in permaculture, eco-construction, and entrepreneurship, learning directly from their environment.

Sports + Environment

We directly tie sports and environment together. Even in time of difficulty, there is still one thing the youth of Matibi love. There is still one thing which brings them together, FOOTBALL. There is no football without environment
